DISINTEGRATION OF NIGERIA; MY PERSPECTIVES BY QUADRI GANIU

It has come to my notice about the claim for secession of the IPOB (Indigenous people of Biafra) from the Nigeria domain. However, history has replete that this is not a day dream as it has been a long day proclamation by the aforementioned sect.

Nigeria being a Poly communal society is characterized by heterogeneity which is one of the features of a Prismatic society (Fred Riggs; 1964) whereby all ethnic groups are pulling the society towards their side & this to a larger extent is diminishing the unity of the country as it has been said that until we stop seeing each other as Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa & we see each other as fellow Nigerians, this country will not reach her promise land.

Furthermore, the centripetal forces such as love for humanity, tolerance & so on should be put in mind & we should shun the centrifugal forces such as tribalism.

According to Marx, economic structure is the super structure upon which all other structures are built on, but nevertheless the political structure is the allocating structure as opined by David East on, so the allocation formula alongside with proportional representation should be review by the Federal govt.
The Marxist claim for revolution has lost its ground & the world is moving towards a Welfare States.

Let's have it at the back of our mind that when things fall apart, the central will not be able to hold.

LONG LIVE NIGERIA
LONG LIVE OGUN STATE
LONG LIVE TASUED.
