According to Daily Star, Real Madrid attacking midfielder, James Rodriguez might be on his way to Chelsea soonest.
The club is said to have a good relationship with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes. This could be instrumental in luring the 24-year old Colombian to Stamford Bridge.
James has had a difficult time at Madrid since Rafael Benitez arrival. The player has not had enough playing time due to Rafa’s rotation policy. This has reportedly left the World Cup Golden Boot winner frustrated, as he desires more playing time.
The technically gifted left footer have scored 20 times in 56 appearances for Madrid. The player has always been linked with the Blues, and was even recently mentioned in a swap deal involving another Chelsea star, Eden Hazard.
Rodriguez, who is very quick, talented and also a good finisher, will obviously be a good addition to the Chelsea team, as they have lost impetus in attack since the the beginning of the season and could also prove to be Guus Hiddink’s first signing in his second spell at Chelsea.
As Chelsea hope to reawaken the performance that saw them win the league seven months ago, and with the future of Cesc Fabregas not certain, the acquisition of James Rodriguez would obviously be a great replacement for the Spanish playmaker who has fallen out with a section of the fans that believed, Fabregas was part of the trio that instigated Jose Mourinho’s sack.
James Rodriguez moved from FC Porto to Monaco for €45million and subsequently to Real Madrid for €80million. The Colombia international scored 25 goals in 3 seasons at Portugal. While at Monaco, he scored 9 goals in just a season, before subsequently moving to Madrid after a wonderful World Cup campaign with Colombia.
Rodriguez has scored 4 goals and also bagged 4 assists in 12 club appearances this season. He also holds an 82.5 pass success percentage. He is a gifted player who can hold on to the ball, make key passes and has also proven to be a good crosser of the ball. Rodriguez is also a wonderful finisher. He will no doubt be a priceless asset to the Chelsea team if they are able to lure him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
